WINE, A RECOVERY TRADITION (Click on the photos of the bottles to see information on the wine.) |
|
A tradition does not spontaneously happen and it is its deep roots that create its value: my family has always been dedicated to the cultivation of vines and the production of wines on this very same land.
Today we want to continue.
To give back its original character to the estate, we
have renewed the vineyards and planted the vineyard
"Vigna della Casa al Piano". There we produce
"Bolgheri Rosso D.O.C. Podere Casa al Piano ".
We chose this name to honour the production site, the
farm "Casa al Piano", which has belonged to
the Tringali-Casanuova family for more than two centuries.
|
| The
vineyard "Vigna della Casa al Piano" lies
at the feet of the South-West side of the Castagneto
Carducci hill, on a slightly undulating, sunny, fertile,
deep soil, protected by a wind screen of olive trees. |
| |
The
vineyard of Casa al Piano covers 3 hectares and the
vines are planted at a density of 6,500 per hectare
to yield a high quality grape and hence wine: a further
4 hectares at the Podere della Casa della Vigna Paterna
complete the estate`s vineyards.
The vines are trained using the traditional method. |

Always in a cool room in which the temperature does not however drop below 10° centigrade or rise above 20° in summer. Between 14° and 16° is the ideal.
Moderate humidity of around 60 – 75% in the room is also desirable. Beyond this, individual wines have particular requirements, namely:
Bolgheri Red: must always be stored horizontally and should not be drunk until it is at least three years old, although to my taste, it is at its best after five years. It will keep well for up to ten years.
Bolgheri Rosè: must always be stored in an upright position and should be drunk the year following the harvest, when it is at its best. Even the year after that however it is still good. Do not keep it in the refrigerator for weeks at a time, rather cool it for half a day before you want to drink it.
Sangiovese Red must also always be laid flat and should be drunk at least two years after the harvest. It is at its best when it is three or four years old but will store well for up to eight. |
